The e-voucher could be much improved
The service is excellent - however, I would suggest that the e-voucher is made to be more attractive. Living abroad I did not have the time to opt for a posted voucher (which I understand is attractive and arrives with a booklet). The e-voucher looks like the badly formatted email that it is. Bearing in mind that this was a present, it did not convey the value (nor the sentiments) that was being given.

Perfect gift , great value.
Purchased gift and family member delighted. I contacted customer services on another matter and their response was quick and satisfactory. I recommend if you are looking for a special gift that will leave memories for a life time afterwards. I will be happy to purchase again and again. Very happy customer.

Useless company that lies
Useless company that lies, does not respond to emails an obviously dont know how to update their website with hotels for the " two night memorable break".
Several hotels I have talked with are not using them anymore (one on their website left several years ago). Another will leave when their year is out. DO NOT BUY from Buy a gift, maybe works if you want a quick experience, but NOT for a little break. Will report to trading standards and anyone I can think off.

Night away voucher not worth a penny
Me and my wife have been bought a night away voucher of my parents. We have tried to use it and every single night away needs money putting towards it. Up to hundreds of pounds putting towards. We found one hotel that looks nice that needs £97 putting in on top of the gift voucher. We have looked on that hotels website and can book it directly with them for the same night a couple of pounds cheaper. So the voucher my parents have bought us for around £150 is effectively worthless. What a sham company

Absolute rip off!!!!
Absolute rip off!!!!
Don't ever buy a voucher with this company, ive paid £120 plus £90 for my son to have a birthday experience of driving supercars!
I booked online with this voucher, sounds great, I received confirmation email, so, I thought everything was booked, again I used the voucher code online to book.
Well my son turned up at car chase heroes castle combe only to be told his paper voucher was out of date! So he couldn't race, so it took him 11/2 hours to get there and 11/2hrs back at 7am in the morning! I received an email to confirm everything too! Now I cant get hold of buy a gift, and basically car chase heroes have said bc the paper voucher is out of date bye, bye!!! Shocking really!

Impossible to book afternoon Tea with vouchers
I tried to book Afternoon Tea with my voucher, firstly few choices compared to the booklet, when checking online.
Very little available to book directly, thus being able to see immediately if you can go to tea.
Tried ringing the hotel(Littlecote) directly. Their phones are awful. If you dont have a booking reference you need to get to reception, this took several calls. Then I was promised a call back as they were very busy. No call by late evening. So I tried calling again, waited for over 30 minutes, listening to awful jazz music, but no pick up. Tried again this morning. Finally after 2 calls got through. To be advised 'We were going to call you later!!!'
The receptionist said yes I could book the tea for the next afternoon. Then she said she couldn't get onto the system. Then I was told it must be fully booked so no availability !! Unbelievable.
So now we have 2 vouchers we cannot use, one for my 70th Birthday, the other for my brothers 40th Anniversary.
I will not recommend your voucher scheme in the future.

Absolutely shocking
Absolutely shocking! Had the voucher since 2020 because of covid. Unable to find availability anywhere and customer service is shocking. £20.00 every time to extend the voucher. Poor, poor service. Use red letter, way better.

Stressful experience
Have been trying to book an afternoon tea for over three days at Littlecote Hotel in Berkshire.
Unable to book through the website and very difficult to get to talk to someone at the hotel,
On one phone line you get told to book through the website which is difficult unless you want to stay at the hotel
If you do get through they don,t return calls or respond to e mails.
Has made what should be a special occassion extremly stressful.
Still unable to book so really disappointed !
Why has this company got an excellent rating on Trustpilot when so many people have complained.

The Smartbox buyagift Two Night…
The Smartbox buyagift Two Night Charming Getaway really is the gift to buy someone you don’t particularly like or resent spending your money on. It’s really easy to buy and comes in a beautiful presentation box so buying is a pleasure and it looks good on receipt but it’s incredibly difficult to actually use.
The brochure included in the package is glossy and alluring and promises a great time but just try to book one of the stays and you’re in for hours of frustration and ultimate disappointment. The booking system is archaic and difficult to navigate, the buyagift team struggle to provide any kind of coherent help and the list of accommodation providers hopelessly out of date. I tried contacting multiple providers shown in the brochure but either got no reply or “we haven’t dealt with them for months” type answers. This is maybe understandable when selecting from a brochure produced sometime in the past but the situation is no better when using those listed on the buyagift website.
Eventually I did manage to book a stay at one of the listed providers but it involved me paying a subsidy and breakfast was not included despite claims to the contrary in the brochure. When I presented the buyagift voucher at the hotel the receptionist looked very puzzled and said “we haven’t dealt with buyagift for over 12 months, you were booked in through Expedia”. Nowhere was this made explicit during the buyagift booking process but it seems that buyagift are actually somehow using Expedia to book the break for their customers.
Discussions with friends and relatives revealed others who have experienced similar strife and at least 2 people in my circle who never managed to get to the point of booking a stay. That’s good income for buyagift with a minimum of associated cost! Is that built into their business model I wonder?
So, as I said in the first paragraph avoid buyagift unless you want to cause the person you are buying for a load of frustration and hassle. I certainly wouldn’t choose to use them ever again.

Theatre experience for two
I bought a theatre experience for two and, even with an additional 20% off, the seats I was offered were more expensive than if I had gone to the theatre directly. I have asked for a refund as I don’t think this offer is good value.

Deliberately difficult to book so they can keep your money
We were bought a voucher for a 2 night stay. Firstly it’s nigh on impossible to actually book anything, the website is awful to navigate and often the hotel you want isn’t available on the dates you want or you have to pay an additional charge to do so.

We tried to swap our voucher for something else but couldn’t do so using the website - very tricky to see what is of equivalent value and then when you settle on something the function to swap the voucher doesn’t work.

We gave up for a while until we realised the voucher was nearly expired. Tried to extend online only for that form to not work either. Webchat is a waste of time as it keeps disconnecting. Found a phone number only to get an automated message stating that they are an “online only” company and how I could “easily manage my voucher booking using their website”

They want a £20 “admin” fee to extend the voucher.

Don’t waste your money. It honestly feels like they make it as difficult as possible to actually use your voucher so you’ll give up and they get to keep the money

Live Chat Resolved It
Bought a gift before lockdowns that had to be rescheduled a few times and encountered a small problem activating the codes. However pleased to say between the customer care live chat of both buy a gift & the provider it was successfully resolved and the gift can now be enjoyed.

Have had several vouchers from these as gifts. The hotels you can never book or even talk to!. When you do they say they do not accept them anymore.
Have swapped them for other deals but don't think they are of equal value.
I wouldn't buy them and advise no one to. Have told family not to give them I'd rather go without
